About Destination Sol
Destination Sol is a free, open-source 2D space arcade RPG that puts you in the cockpit of a small fighter ship on the edge of a star system — and then leaves the rest of the galaxy up to you.
You begin with a modest ship and no fixed path. Fly freely through an open world, land seamlessly on planets, take on enemy ships, trade with passing traders, and stop at outposts to restock and plan your next move. As you earn your way, you can upgrade your ship and equipment, hire mercenary fighters to fly alongside you, and mine asteroids for valuable resources.
Every run feels different because the world is randomly generated: two star systems filled with planets, asteroid belts, and mazes to explore. There are three planet types to visit, many kinds of enemies to outfly and outgun, plus ally fighters, traders, and outposts that make the universe feel alive. With six ship types to pilot and more than 50 items to collect — weapons, shields, armor, and special abilities — you can build a ship that fits how you like to play, whether that means charging into a fight or picking your battles carefully.
Why play it? Destination Sol is completely free and open source, with no ads or in-app purchase clutter getting in the way of the game. It is also available on PC, Linux, and Mac, so the same space adventure travels with you beyond Android. If you like open-world space games, 2D shooters, and RPG progression without a paywall, this is an easy one to try.
How to play Destination Sol
Start with a small fighter, explore the star systems, land on planets, fight enemies, mine asteroids, and spend what you earn on better weapons, shields, and armor. Hire mercenaries when a fight looks too big to take on alone.
